As we celebrate National Autism Awareness Month throughout April and World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, it is important to remember that the vast majority of working age people with autism are either unemployed or underemployed.

We continue to look for ways to empower people to achieve more and help candidates with autism work through traditional barriers to gain employment. That is one of the reasons why Microsoft is among the companies sponsoring the second annual Autism @ Work Summit, which has become the “leading forum for sharing best practices for developing inclusive hiring initiatives,” says Neil Barnett, Microsoft director of inclusive hiring and accessibility.

This year, Microsoft will host the first Autism @ Work virtual career fair for people with autism. Candidates can meet online with recruiters at several organizations, including, AT&T, EY, Ford, HPE Dandelion, JP Morgan Chase, Microsoft, NCR and SAP. This is a free event and we encourage anyone to register and learn more at https://aka.ms/autism.at.work.

For more information about the summit and virtual career fair, read Neil Barnett’s post at Microsoft on the Issues and follow @MSFTEnable on Twitter.
