[Job] SharePoint Consultant - NYC, LA, & Remote

    I reached out to the mods a while back under a different username to get approval for posting this, but please let me know if there is any issue with this post.

    My company is a small (11 people) but growing Microsoft gold partnered consulting firm based in both Southern California and NYC. We focus on helping organizations drive adoption of O365 and Azure technologies. We are currently looking for team members in our Applications Innovation practice to help with both legacy and modern SharePoint environments and custom solutions. The role is a FTE role.

    The ideal candidate would have a mix of SharePoint platform expertise and software development skills. We currently have a team that focuses primarily on Azure and modern web development, and while they can do modern SharePoint dev, they don't always have the background and understanding how best to integrate with the platform.

    We are looking for consultants to:

    • Provide expertise on the SharePoint platform and communicate best practices and provide guidance to team members, clients, and partners as it relates to the platform

    • Help clients maintain, and eventually migrate/re-platform full-trust, farm solutions to suitable new technologies (e.g. SharePoint Add-In, SharePoint framework, PowerApps/Flow, Logic Apps, etc.)

    • Lead migration efforts, including content migration, 3rd party tool analysis and selection.

    • Introduce clients to new features and capabilities of the platform as they emerge (e.g. SPFx based dev)

    We recognize everyone brings with them their own talents and experiences, therefore we don't have a hard and fast list of check-box requirements, but we mostly look for:

    • Thorough Understanding of SharePoint's past, present, and future -- someone who can understand and appreciate the investments clients have made in the platform, and how the platform is evolving

    • Legacy SharePoint Dev experience -- we are not creating many new WSPs but a lot of clients have them and it's important that we can assist them in this type of development. As mentioned, most of this is geared towards re-tooling and migration. We want to get them away from old, tightly coupled solutions, but part of that requires us to be able to understand and work with those solutions.

    • SharePoint "Power User" experience - deep familiarity with concepts such as search, publishing, display templates, master pages, metadata, information architecture, and all that jazz.

    • Modern SharePoint & Web Dev experience - when we bring new solutions to the table, we aim to use modern technologies in order to enable rich user experiences. This goes far beyond SharePoint. We endeavor to take advantage of related platforms like Teams, the newish Chat Bot Framework, Power BI and other aspects of O365/Azure whenever possible. We've done some cool integrations with platforms like Azure Media Services, so an ability to think beyond the core capabilities of SharePoint is important.

    • Consulting experience - the role is would be client facing working in the field directly with business stakeholders. Solid written and verbal communications skills are necessary as is ability to consistently adhere to the mantra of "under promise and over deliver". Our consultants typically work in teams, but for smaller engagements some things are executed independently, so dependability and ability to plan, execute on, and effectively bring projects to completion is critical. Ideally you would have some experience in such a role, or be comfortable with such a role.

    To be considered candidates must:

    • Currently reside in, and be legally able to work in the US without addiitonal visa sponsorship
    • Be available for some travel (~15%) -- it's not a lot, but sometimes we need to put in face time
    • Have roughly 1-3 years or more experience working with SharePoint and SharePoint development and migration across 1 or more generations of the product (e.g. 2007, 2010, 2013, etc.)
    • Ideally be in the LA/SoCal or NYC/NNJ metro area, but remote is fine too, we have people in various places
    • Pay rate open, DOE & Location.
