The Excel team held its first Global Training Camp (GTC) in conjunction with ModelOff, the Financial Modeling World Championships, at the Microsoft Offices in the United Kingdom on December 3–4 and hosted hundreds of Excel campers from over 25 countries.

GTC is a world-class technical training development program for the next generation of business leaders, where campers hone their skills in advanced Excel features, business and financial analysis, financial modeling, infrastructure, investment management, private equity and risk intelligence. The camp was staffed by members of the Excel development team, who were there to ensure that campers experienced firsthand how they can be more productive with Excel and provided hands-on experience with Excel 2016. At GTC, campers could choose from a variety of activities over the two days, and judging by phenomenal turnout, there was definitely something for everyone.

Camping metaphor aside, the GTC was a phenomenal event for the Excel team. We absolutely love to talk to customers face-to-face and continue to look for opportunities to do so in the future. What especially got our attention was seeing Excel power users learning from other Excel power users—it’s amazing just what a gem the community is. We were also able to extend GTC scholarships to over 50 students that may not have been able to attend otherwise, and we were happy to have them there, as they will certainly help to shape the next generation of financial modeling.

You can find out more about the GTC at www.gtc.modeloff.com. We also invite you to be a part of the Excel community by providing your thoughts and ideas about Excel at Excel UserVoice.
